RFQ Details

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am following up a recommendation from the Paris JEC2010 BioComposites & BioFibres trade and technical conference forum a few days ago.

Please may I conduct a product purchase and data enquiry on behalf of the University of Hertfordshire.

I specialise in advanced engineering bio-composites and bio-fibres, doing research to improve the mechanical properties. In any engineering composite material, fibres are used to reinforce a polymer. The resulting cured panel has structural and other semi-structural engineering applications.

My group at the University of Hertfordshire is especially interested in improving the tensile strength and toughness, both of the resin+abaca composite and the abaca fibres themselves.

Hence our need to purchase some research quantities of abaca bio-fibres.

I would be very grateful to receive some material mechanical property datasheets, and price quotes, for your abaca fibres, and any fabrics, particularly in long fibre abaca.

We would be interested in purchasing research quantities of of the yarn, particularly of fabric or woven rovings if available.

Low twist or untwisted yarns are most beneficial for maximum mechanical properties, but normal twist would also be of interest.

This is helpful to make into woven rovings or fabrics, or in plane unidirectional plies. Then we could match individual types of biofibres to particular bio-plastics when making the bio-composites.

Please may we enquire, to purchase some samples of long fibre (preferably low-twist) abaca. We are looking for yarns on a bobbin roll (long fibres), as well as rolls of woven fabric (also long fibres) if at all available. Small denier yarn, say of yarn size 250tex for maximum mechanical properties, and in 500tex and 1000tex.

25kg rolls of each would be ideal, for research purposes to build specimens for mechanical testing.

A good purchase would be 10 large bobbins of abaca long fibre yarn, 10 rolls of long fibre abaca fabric, eac
