Purpose:

The sunflower oil processing will be used to extract sunflower oil from sunflower seeds through the following steps; cleaning, preheating, crushing, solventextraction, bleaching, degumming, bleaching, neutralization, winterization until packaging into plastic bottles.

1.0 Machine Requirement Description

Batch Production Plant

Plant production capacity: 3000 to 5000 litres/day of refined edible Sunflower oil.

1) Seed cleaning Machine: Machine will be used to remove dust, stones, glass, metal and any other foreign materials that could compromise product quality and can cause machine damage and inefficiencies.
2) Oil Press (Mechanically pressing): Machine will be used for pressing sunflower oil seeds to extract/obtain oil after preheating treatment in indirectly heated conditioners.
3) Extraction: Machine will be used to extract oil from sunflower seeds after treatment with hexane to obtain maximum yield.
4) Desolventising: Should be able to separate oil and solvent and recycle back into extraction process.
5) Degumming: To be used to hydrate phospholipids with water and separate from oil through centrifuging.
6) Neutralization (Alkali Neutralization): The machine will be used to remove free fatty acids, residual phospholipids, oxidation products of free fatty acids, residual proteins, carbohydrates, traces of metals and part of pigments.
7) Bleaching: To be used for bleaching sunflower oil, activated clay minerals (bleaching earth, silicates) will be used to separate primarily natural pigments. Should be able to remove residues of phospholipids, trace elements, proteins and soap.
8) Deodorization: Deodorization or steaming process removes undesirable odour- and taste-substances by means of steam treatment.
9) Filling and Packaging Line: the filling and packaging line will be used to clean, dry plastic and fill oil into plastic bottles. The line should be to clean bottle ranges of 500 ml to 10 litres. Pre-programmed filling volume machine for efficiencies in filling volume. The oil will be filled into plastic bottles of 500 ml, 750 ml, 1 litre, 1.5 litres, 2 litres, 5 litres and 10 litres.
10) Labelling Machine: The labelling machine will be used to apply self adhesive labels to filled cyndrical bottles according to different sizes as stated above.

4.0 QUOTATION FORMAT:
The tender should be presented in the following format:
a) Unit price of the item to be supplied
b) Quantity required
c) Value Added Tax (VAT) for Botswana tenderers only.
d) Subtotal per item with VAT
e) Grand total for all items
f) Shipping charges and transport (from supplier to Durban, South Africa and to Botswana).
g) Installation charges
h) Training charges
i) Labour or manpower configurations for each machine per shift
j) Technical support conditions
k) After sales service (guarantee, warranty)
NB: Any additional machinery relevant to the above requirements may be included.
