RFQ Details

We are currently looking for a foam converter to supply 4,000,000 foam gaskets per year. The attached drawing shows an individual foam base as well as several foam bases on a roll. Rolls typically contain 3,200 pieces and are wound on a 3â cardboard core. The foam has an adhesive applied on one side with a removable paper packing. When the foam base is removed from the paper backing it is then applied to an injection molded Polypropylene part. The foam is used in an automated environment so it is imperative that the tolerances on the attached drawing are adhered to. The foam currently being used is a TI20WH Qycell Irradiated Cross linked foam manufactured by Qycell Corporation www.qycell.com/ti.htm . Qycell Irradiated (TI) cross linked foam is a very fine-celled, smooth skinned, irradiated cross linked polyethylene foam, with closed cells. A data sheet for this foam is available. The foam is made of a clean and non-toxic material. Ideally we would prefer to use the same foam we are currently using however we would consider an equivalent alternative however it would have to be a very close match. The adhesive currently being used is a MACtac IB1187 Rubber adhesive, IB1187 is a double coated polyester film used for general purpose bonding applications such as in the gasket, seal and trim markets. It has a general purpose rubber based adhesive. It is typically used for bonding foams, felts, cloths, primed wood, metal, plastics and most low or unplasticized substrates. It has excellent balance of economy versus performance and can be used in many applications as an aid to assembly. The polyester carrier provides dimensional stability and superior die cutting properties. A data sheet is available. Ideally we would prefer to use the same adhesive we are currently using however we would consider an equivalent alternative however it would have to be a very close match. This product is currently produced using a rotary die. Due to the tolerances required I donâÂÂt think t
