RFQ Details

I am interested in creating a simple handheld device and would like your help in the prototyping and/or manufacturing stages. I am new to electronics manufacturing so I apologize in advance if any of my questions seem a bit "rookie". The device I want to build is intended to be used for viewing checklists (shopping lists, to-do lists, etc.). I am prepared to create an entirely new product, but I would also be willing to repurpose an existing devise if it closely resembles the specifications I'm looking for. If you think you may be able to help me, please read on.

Battery: preferably internal and charged through the mini USB port; however, I would also like to be quoted on the same unit with external batteries

Connector: USB Type A Male to Type Mini B 5-pin Male (MD Type). The mini USB port would be on the side of the device

Memory: very little required as the firmware will only handle basic list and calendar files. [Please advise if you have suggestions]

Screen: black and white; high contrast so that it will be visible in sunlight.

Interface: 4 buttons, one on the right side panel of the unit and the other three on the left side

Firmware: will need to interface with PC software that syncs lists and calendar items; will need to display lists, calendar, date and time

Software: I have this laid out in another document; please advise if your company does this otherwise I will contract an independent developer

Other considerations:

I'm looking for a per unit cost of roughly $20 US or less on an order of 500 to 1000 units. Suggestions to lower the manufacturing costs are encouraged.

If your company can help with the prototyping, please also provide some rough estimates of these costs.
