Recommendations for Rehabercise TKA

Hi, Lee! Thanks for the note. I'm happy to help you out in any way I can, and for starters, here's a quote:

-- "Rehabercise for Total Knee Arthroplasty" is both informative and reassuring. By documenting her actual experience before and after total knee replacement surgery, Lee Davidson has provided a wealth of knowledge and insight. Her perky personality and positive attitude helped me to deal with my own knee problems in a much more effective manner. I recommend "Rehabercise for Total Knee Arthroplasty" to anyone contemplating knee replacement surgery.
-- Tana Fleischer
Tucson, Arizona

Studies show that patients who participate in a 6 week preoperative exercise program, (for total knee replacement) used fewer postoperative rehabilitation services and stayed for a shorter time in hospital.

Rehabercise for Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA). This is not only an educational DVD that helps answer questions and reduces patient’s anxiety prior to surgery but a step by step pre and post operative exercise program. Patients will view first hand my questions and how I prepared for surgery. They will also see me, in real-time accomplishing the recommended exercise program. We believe this DVD will greatly benefit patients overall experience and success when undergoing TKA and will assist them towards a speedier recovery.

The DVD is arranged in a format that is easy to follow. There are seven chapters allowing the patient to follow me through my TKA rehabilitation. Below is a brief description of the various chapters:

Chapter One: Introduction: In this chapter, I explain how I delayed TKA for five years due to anxiety and fear surrounding surgery and recovery. My goal in creating this DVD is to help other potential TKA patients through the process.

Chapter Two: Meeting with the Physical Therapist: David Anderson, PT., addresses questions and concerns about the surgery and rehabilitation. David instructs the proper exercises needed for a speedy and complete recovery.

Chapter Three: 18 Minute Workout Program: This 18 minute workout program is designed to assist patients and help them regain their range of motion as quickly as possible. Patients are encouraged to learn and practice these exercises for several weeks prior to surgery. Then following surgery this DVD may be used postoperative, on alternate days of physical therapy. Rehabercise promotes a positive attitude to assist in a speedier recovery. Patients will be able to follow me in the comfort of their own home as I demonstrate these exercises.

Chapter Four: 3 Days Postoperative Physical Therapy: Patients will be able to observe how I am doing just three days following surgery as I continue in physical therapy.

Chapter Five: 4 Weeks Postoperative Physical Therapy Evaluation: Patients will learn how to massage incision area to reduce scaring and to promote healing along with physical therapy.

Chapter Six: Six Weeks Postoperative Physical Therapy Evaluation: Patients will observe my healing process and areas of difficulty.

Chapter Seven: Nine Weeks: This chapter shows how goals were reached and how I accomplished a significant increase in range of motion.

Approximate Running Time 1hr 4 minutes which includes an 18 minute Pre and Postoperative exercise program.
