PAKISTAN STEEL invites sealed â??TECHNICALâ?? and â??COMMERCIALâ?? PROPOSALS in separately marked envelope(s) on prescribed from overseas Iron Ore Producers / Mine Owners / Canalizing Agencies / Authorized Sole Traders (Sole Traders means having authority to sell the Iron Ore of Mine Owners / Producers to Pakistan Steel), having sound financial position and standing repute in the international market as potential suppliers of Iron Ore, for procurement of 0.1MMT of Iron Ore (Fine) on CFFO basis to be supplied in 02 shipments of 50, 000MT (+10%) each, scheduled ETA Bin Qasim 05.07.2008 & 25.07.2008 (+05 days). The Iron Ore is to be used in our Iron Ore blend during Julyâ??2008.

3. Parameters to be used for computer run during Techno Commercial selection of Iron Ore (Fine) will be as under: -
-- Sinter : Ore : 75 : 25 (+1%)
-- Slag Basicity : 1.03 + 0.005.
-- Al203 in ***** Slag : 15% (Max).
-- Mg0 : 8.70% (+0.1%)
-- Slag rate : 225 to 350 kg/THM.
-- Sinter Basicity : 1.10 to 1.50
(Silica Sand will be added in Sinter Mix at Sinter Plant).
Fine Iron Ore blend restrictions:
-- Fe (T) : 60% (Min).
-- TiO2 : 0.25% (Max).
-- Alkalis : 0.10% (Max).
Lump Iron Ore blend restriction
TiO2 0.25% (Max)
Alkali 0.10% (Max)s
4. The information / data shall be effected for assessing the suitability of Iron Ore (Fine), to be used in the blend for Blast Furnace, arriving at most economical and technically viable to charging burden composition. The final selection of Iron Ore (Fine) shall be at the sole discretion of PAKISTAN STEEL.
5. The Producers / Mine Owners / Canalizing Agencies/ Authorized Sole Traders, whose offered Iron Ore (Fine) is found technically suitable shall later be notified the date of opening of their commercial offer (already submitted earlier with their technical offer in separate envelopes), which shall be opened publicly before the Price Negotiating Committee.
6. Destination: Port Muhammad Bin Qasim, Pakistan Steel, Karachi, PAKISTAN.
7. The Producers / Mine Owners / Canalizing Agencies / Authorized Sole Traders from Israel are not eligible to participate in the tender.
8. Validity of offer: Offer of shipment should remain valid upto 18 days for FREIGHT and 45 days for FOBT from the date of tender opening and a certificate to this effect shall also be enclosed separately with tender documents.
9. Sampling and analysis to be conducted at Load port and Discharge port as specified in the tender documents. The penalties (if any) on deviation from specification & rejection limits are mentioned in the tender documents.
10. Pakistan Steel reserves the right to reject any or all offers without assigning any reason.
11. The offers duly completed in all respect on our prescribed proforma should reach, by 03.06.2008 till 14.30 hours. The technical offer (s) will be opened in public on the same day at 15.00 hours
