paving or cobblestones suitable for italianate courtyard

we are looking for the most cost effective way of purchasing a large quantity of paving or cobbles for a new italianate courtyard. There will be cars turning on it, so it needs to be durable, and being in England, shouldn't get too slippery in the winter weather. We are happy to import if necessary. (possibly from India?) We will obviously need samples first. The quantity reqired depends on price, as we have a driveway that we would also like to do with the same, but it is huge, and unviable if the cost is too great
